Maria Kendzierski

Two time breast cancer survivor, and Dave’s cousin from Buffalo · Buffalo, NY

On the show

“This is what a survivor looks like.”

Maria joined Dave and Mike over Zoom from Buffalo for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A yearly mammogram in 2015 found stage zero lobular carcinoma in situ, followed by five years of tamoxifen. Screening every six months at Roswell Park then caught a stage one cancer on an MRI in 2024. She walked through her lumpectomy, eight rounds of chemotherapy that started on her birthday, five weeks of radiation, and the people she met along the way, and closed by asking listeners to get their mammograms and talk to their own doctor about when to start.
