Because recovery shouldn't end at discharge.
Most clinics say goodbye at discharge. We built a wellness program so we don't have to. Graduates of our therapy programs — and community members who simply want expert-guided fitness — train in the same facility, with a team that knows their history, at a pace built around long-term health.

Balance and fall prevention, and where the gym fits
Falls rarely start with a slip. They start months earlier, with weaker hips, a less steady base and reaction time that has quietly slowed. Senior functional fitness in our on-site gym works on both halves at once: the strength that holds you up and the balance that catches you when something shifts. Here is how it fits with therapy.
Who is the balance work for?
Mostly people who have noticed the early signs: standing up from a chair more slowly, holding the rail on the stairs, avoiding a walk they used to enjoy. Many have just finished physical or occupational therapy with us and want to keep what they gained. The program covers every age, from athletes to seniors, but balance and fall prevention are the heart of senior functional fitness.
Therapy or the gym: which comes first?
If pain, a recent fall, dizziness or a new diagnosis is part of the picture, start with an evaluation. Balance and fall prevention, vestibular work and neurological rehab are part of our physical therapy program, and medically necessary therapy is covered by Medicare. When skilled therapy is no longer what you need, the gym is how you keep the progress, with a team that already knows your chart.
What does a session look like?
Supervised strength and balance work, built around your history rather than a generic class plan. Sit to stands are a good example: rising from a chair without using your hands is one of the simplest tests of leg strength there is, and it is the same movement that keeps you able to get off a low couch, a car seat or the toilet without help. You can train one-on-one with a personal trainer or in a small group class, whichever keeps you coming back.
Can I keep doing it at home?
Yes, and you should. Dr. Dave Kashuba, Ph.D., OTR, asks patients for “just a little bit of exercises, ten, fifteen minutes a day, three minutes a day, and work your way up,” spread through the day rather than saved for one long session. Our home exercises page has his knee, hip and shoulder sets with sets and reps, and Strength Training After 60 explains the thinking.
Does insurance cover the gym?
No. The wellness program does not take insurance, so the front desk explains how it works and what it costs before you sign up. Therapy is different: it is covered by Medicare when it is medically necessary, including skilled care that helps you maintain your function. Our 2026 Medicare guide has the details.
Do I have to be a patient?
The program is designed first as a continuation for our therapy patients, so the person guiding your training already knows your history. If you have not been a patient with us, call 561-624-4263 and the front desk will walk you through the options.
